Harry's Place: they're crazed, fascist bigots and extremists

I truly believe that the cowardly writers at the disgusting hate blog, Harry's Place, are a greater threat to British society than all the criminals and terrorists. This website laughingly tries to pretend that they are left-wing, when all the world can see they are an unprincipled right-wing infiltration into left-wing politics, with all the characteristics of the far right: warmongering, bigoted, intolerant, extreme and deeply opposed to the true liberal left.

They may have started out convincing some that they were a new spin on left-of-centre politics, and not everything they've said is wrong - for example, they memorably dismissed Andrew Gilligan as a Nazi propagandist - but it must have become clear to even the dimmest of bystanders that their vile rhetoric attracts support from the nastiest of right wingers. They proudly allow bigoted comments to remain unchallenged, only pausing to 'moderate' if a comment undermines the rubbish they gleefully produce.

Their latest outrage is in yet another rabid rant against the East London Mosque, which in the comments section one particularly nasty person ('Lamia') describes as a "shithole". No danger of the singularly disgusting bigot, 'Lucy Lips', moderating that comment on the most popular place of worship for thousands of ordinary Muslims in Tower Hamlets. For it is 'Lucy Lips' who contributes the most disgraceful slur by describing the wonderful Neil Jameson of Citizens UK as a "scumbag". Why? Because he defended the good work of the East London Mosque.

I'm pleased to see Andrew Boff pointed out to 'Lucy Lips' that Neil Jameson is: "a very good person who I’m betting has done more for humanity than all your collected diatribes". Too right! Andrew may come from the wrong side of the political spectrum, from my point of view, but he has always struck me as a decent person who puts integrity before political advancement - I only wish he wasn't a Tory! He's not afraid to stand up for the oppressed against the extreme bigots that have capitalised on the post 7/7 vilification of Muslims. And see how the Harry's Place regulars pour out their venom on him, just as they do on anyone who says the least positive thing about Muslims' leading institutions. Neil Jameson is an inspiring, dynamic person who works with all faith groups, grass-roots community organisations, trade unions and others to help people in our communities who need help the most. His work on the Living Wage is an achievement that has benefited thousands of Britain's poorest people.

Lucy Lips and her vile Harry's Place cohort of extremist bigots offer the world only hate; Neil Jameson and his associates offer hope.

  1. Another excellent exposé. But could I ask you for a reference for where you say they 'dismissed Andrew Gilligan as a Nazi propagandist'?

  2. Thanks. You may know that Gilligan has often worked for the Iranian state-funded channel, Press TV - as recently as May 2010. Well, they're not fans at Harry's Place (http://hurryupharry.org/2009/07/01/we-will-not-forget-the-iranian-people/). Who else but the cowardly 'Lucy Lips' first quotes The Times:

Press TV also employs Cherie Blair’s sister Lauren Booth, the MPs Derek Conway and George Galloway, and the journalists Andrew Gilligan and Yvonne Ridley.

Booth told The Times that her weekly programme, Remember the Children of Palestine, was “too important for me not to make it”.

Gilligan, Ridley and Mr Galloway said that their shows were not subject to political interference, and they would quit if they were.

Then 'Lucy Lips' pronounces her verdict:

"Galloway openly supports Ahmadinejad’s coup. The others have said nothing about it, as far as I know. Law [sic] Haw Haws, the lot of them."

They are very aware of references to Nazi attrocities at Harry's Place, and don't hesitate to castigate if they are misued. So 'Lucy Lips' would have been quite clear about the meaning of describing someone as a 'Lord Haw Haw' (despite 'her' inability to get the name right!).

  3. There's this new so called "left of centre" tag extremists like Harry's Place, and one of its writers David Toube, take. But they are almost always from well off backgrounds - traditional right-wing breeding ground!

Left-wing politics is the home of people from working class backgroud. These guys are just too embarrassed to call themselves right-wing, so they've invoked this new tab. But everything they utter - pro war, unflinching support for Israel, neo-con values - is pure right wing!!

Just to point out their vile propaganda. Here David Toube pretends to be just a casual "joe public" who is aghast at not being allowed to swim when he goes to a "muslim-only" swimming session:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1895962/Non-Muslim-father-banned-from-London-pool.html

He actually scouted this event and targeted it. But his spin is bought by the Torygraph. No compulsion in lying then David?! Something you accuse "Islamists" of.

Oh David, maybe you should send some of your buddies from Harris Place to do the same with some Jewish only swimming events:

These guys are around just to polarise debate about Muslims!

  4. The swimming issue was indeed a clear proof, if any were needed, that the invention of being 'anti-Islamist' was only ever a bigot's cover for being anti-Muslim. Why else would he run to the hard right rag, the Daily Mail, with his story? (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-560231/Public-pool-bars-father-son-Muslim-swimming-session.html) This hypocrisy has been discussed before (e.g. http://www.pickledpolitics.com/archives/10772#comment-225300). It's not the only instance; Toube had also complained about the provision of a tiny 'faith room' at the Natural History Museum because Muslims were using it for their prayers.

  5. Gilligan most certainly doesn't back all his claims, and his 'evidence' is often highly suspect. Moreover, the point made above is that he pours scorn on Muslims for so-called links to terrorism, whilst shamelessly working for the propaganda TV channel for the world's number one terrorist state, Iran, proving he's an utter hypocrite.

And why do you refer to Arab countries? Besides, as we've seen in Tunisia, most of the leaders are brutal secularists, corrupt and oppresive, backed by the West - right up Gilligan's street, no doubt!
